how to prevent space between hyphen and textbeta{}

I’m using the textgreek package to produce greek symbols. However, there is a space appearing before the greek symbol when preceded by a hyphen. How do I prevent this.

it has been possible to identify how individual protein subunits can form the 
stereotypical cross-textbeta{} structure.
