How to add source code to glossary entry (lstlisting not working)

I am trying to add source code as the description to a glossary entry:

newglossaryentry{chans}
{
    name=chans,
    description={
        Refers to the following struct: 
        begin{lstlisting}
            type distributorChannels struct {
            ...
            }
        end{lstlisting}
    }
}

However, this results in the following error: TeX capacity exceeded, sorry [grouping levels=255].

What is the best way to add source code to a glossary entry?
