File `lambda.sty' not found

TeX - LaTeX Asked by Cenlle on April 13, 2021

I am new to latex, attempting to write an article on chess with the skak package.

On Ubuntu, I have installed TexStudio, and also MikTex and texlive-full. When I attempt to compile a document on TexStudio containing the line usepackage{skak}, I get the error
File `lambda.sty' not found. let

I have tried tlmgr install lambda in the terminal, which returns

tlmgr: package repository https://anorien.csc.warwick.ac.uk/mirrors/CTAN/systems/texlive/tlnet (verified)
tlmgr install: package already present: lambda

locate lambda.sty returns /usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/plain/lambda-lists/lambda.sty.

locate skak.sty returns

/home/j/.TinyTeX/texmf-dist/tex/latex/skak/skak.sty
/usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/skak/skak.sty
/usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/xskak/xskak.sty

It appears to me that lambda is a required package for skak, and both are installed, so I do not know what is causing this problem?
