How do I keep a prompt at the bottom of the screen in C?

A brief disclaimer: I have never posted on here before. I’m new to programming, but not computers.

I’m learning C and I’ve chosen a messaging application as my first "real" project. I’m trying to figure out how to keep a little prompt at the bottom of my terminal that will continue to ask you for a new string of text. I have heard of NCurses but I’m trying to keep this as simple as possible. Any help with this subject would be awesome! Also, I’m using <stdio.h> and stdliuser:14199420b.h for the console output and all that. Any extra libraries are mainly for sockets and other networking stuff that I’m learning.
