Modern indoor bouldering often involves jumping to grab holds that are higher up on the wall. I have noticed some climbers keep their focus on the target, while others look like their body is mostly just preparing to fall to the ground. Their arms extend only tentatively towards the target hold, and their legs/feet position themselves to land on the ground rather than to swing and absorb the jump.
I would imagine being comfortable mid-air and body control is something gymnasts have to practice. Googling I mostly found rotation control for divers and BMX.
Maybe it is just fear of falling and it isn’t really a thing?
