So I just bought this coconut that’s from Thailand, it has this “cap” where you press down to penetrate the skin and drink with a straw. The coconut water taste very good and sweet.
However after drinking the coconut water, I want to open and eat the flesh, but when I tear away the plastics, the part where I insert the straw at the top of the coconut is soft and smells of alcohol. It’s just the top part, the rest of the coconut looks fresh. Inside also white and fresh.
I think they cut the top too close to the inside maybe and it fermented? Could that be the case?
Is that a food safety issue and what should I do with the remaining coconut?
