At the beginning of the first season, the power of the Staff of One is presented in strictly MCU technobabble fashion. It does quantum something or other to make the user’s will come into effect in the environment, and is attuned to the blood of the user. It was invented by her mother using her technological research (well, that is what she claimed to Nico), and it seemed as if the only thing that made her a "wizard" was the name of her company. This never really made much sense in conjunction with its power of producing each effect once, for instance, or for that matter with anything resembling actual science, but it was fitting with the MCU style.
However, at some point in the second season, Tina suggests to her husband that there is more to the staff than what she told him, and by the middle of the third season, we see that not only is the staff more clearly magical in a traditional sense, but Tina herself is a full-blown sorcerer who is capable of using some magic beyond just the staff.
Are there any indications that this shift plotted out from the beginning, or did the writers simply change their minds?
