What is that "superior" feeling when you know someone else is being wrong?

Psychology & Neuroscience Asked by cr001 on March 4, 2021

I found myself of having a feeling of being strong or being superior when I see something like "Aristotle was wrong", even if I myself have nothing to do with the subject, let along being correct.

I don’t know how to describe this feeling but I am pretty sure it is something different from "schadenfreude". It happens only when I see someone else being "wrong" about something, especially if that person is a famous one (like Aristotle or Georg Cantor).

From my self experience, it seems that "the knowledge of a famous person being wrong" itself provides the feeling.

Is this feeling a common thing to have, and is there any study and/or terminology on this feeling?
