Psychology & Neuroscience Asked by user676464327 on July 5, 2021
I read somewhere (I think it was an article about promoting healthy life habits) the following:
If one had knowledge about the benefits of a particular habit, then
the person is more likely to retain this habit.
I think the main point is that the effect is psychological. Many people know that smoking is bad for you, but they do it anyways. However, if they are better educated about the specifics of the harms of smoking, then they would be more likely to quit. Thus, being better educated about the benefits and harms of a particular habit helps us overcome irrational behavior.
Is there a name for this phenomena?
