Can the Conscious Competence Learning Model be applied to emotion regulation? As you activate the parasympathetic nervous system by utilizing techniques such as meditation your overall emotion regulation continuously improves.
Activating the PNS progresses your emotion regulation through the 4 stages of the Conscious Competence Learning Model, effectively activating unconscious competence at regulating your emotional state. At this stage of regulation there are no physiological effects of a negatively induced emotion.
However if PNS activation is directly proportional to Sympathetic Nervous System deactivation does that mean you can theoretically regress your emotional regulation back through the 4 stages of conscious competence by repeated activation of the SNS?
How is this explained in regards to your mind achieving unconscious competence at emotion regulation in the first place? Is unconscious competence indefinite or does it become a permanent trait of your being after it has been achieved?
