Why energy levels of each atoms split in band theory of solid such that they are not degenerate?

Physics Asked by Nazmul Hasan Shipon on May 23, 2021

I recently came across energy band theory in semiconductors and pauli’s exclusion principle. But I’m not sure how energy level split and why, when the atoms are so much far from each other in solid. Can you help me understand this please?
