What is the physical meaning of saying that a VEV is greater than zero? Are we saying that the energy of the ground state is greater than zero, that is that zero point fluctuations have an average amplitude greater than zero? What does it mean to say that? I am assuming my understanding is not correct and asking for clarificaton.
