Pressure at some different points with the same heights

Physics Asked on November 28, 2021

Why do the red points in the following figure have the same pressure?

One Answer

Pressure, in an open container such as this, only depends on depth. The red dots are all at the same depth from the surface. They all have the same height of water above them. Water pressure increases about 1.47 psi per meter of depth, regardless of the shape of the container.
