If there is a great value of launch angle, what happens to the horizontal range?

Physics Asked on January 17, 2021

How would you critique this answer for the question "If there is a great value of launch angle, what happens to the horizontal range of a projectile with an initial height greater than zero and final height equal to zero?"

Answer: The horizontal range depends on the launch speed, launch angle, and time of flight. Launch angles closer to 45 degrees yield to longer ranges. Hence, the greater the value of launch angle, the greater its difference to the 45 degrees angle, resulting to shorter range. However, this is only true when we are comparing projectiles with the same initial speed because the initial speed affects the time of travel, hence affecting the horizontal range.

One Answer

You can directly use the formula of range

R=$u^2sin2theta$/g

For derivation From here maximum value of R.
