How can a membrane be a solution of 11D supergravity?

Physics Asked on January 25, 2021

What does it mean that an M2 brane is a solution of 11D supergravity? Does this mean that there is some sort of black hole whose singularity is stretched out into a sheet like a membrane? So that the gravitational field lines end on this sheet?
