The Sun is a black (ish) body, so it must be emitting all of the kinds of radiation below visible, right into the VHF. But how much VHF radiation is there, and how does it compare to the artificial VHF transmissions from Earth?
If the Earth’s VHF transmissions are much weaker than our sun’s, then aliens are going to have a hell of a time seeing them. Could this be why SETI hasn’t found anything yet? What would it take to build a VHF telescope that could isolate an alien planet’s artificial signals from its star?
