Fundamentals of body deformations (recommend some books? soft robots?)

I’m researching about soft robots but most of the papers I’ve found have a very complex theory, which is making my progress quite slow. I was wondering if any of you who have some background on deformable bodies or beam theory (such as Euler-Bernoulli theory) could guide me in to the fundamentals of soft robots theory with some books you could recommend.
