Casimir effect on the edges of the plates

What kind of forces are felt by the edges of two plates experiencing the Casimir effect?
I assume that if the edges were closed then they would feel a force towards the space between the plates, but what happens when they are open, do they also feel a force towards the middle, away from the middle or none?
