Velcro to stick to footwell/tunnel carpeting?

Got an umbrella that is supposed to be screwed into the footwell/tunnel carpeting.

However I wanted to try less invasive attachment methods, so tried Velcro hooks to the carpet.
Sadly, the footwell carpet doesn’t seem to be compatible with Velcro, as it doesn’t get stuck on properly – probably different density.

I’ve heard of some sort of velcro variant that supposedly worked with carpeting in a Lotus, but didn’t have details.

Does anyone know of any alternative non-invasive fasteners that work on carpeting?

If I can’t get anything to stick to carpeting, I’ll just use 3M/PS18 backed velcro on the vinyl/plastic tunnel cover
