Tire foam and wipe for engine detailing

I have seen some videos where people just spray en engine bay with tire foam and then wipe it down which gives an apparently thorough clean.

Does tire foam leave anybcheical residues/smells or does this dissipate in a short time?

Is this method effective at cleaning the engine bay?
