Lambda readings on emission

I’ve just failed mine on a mk4 golf 1.8t readings come back at Co 0.00 Hc 0 ppm Lambda 1.044 Garage have said lambda sensor aswell as hole in exhaust right in the join to the back box I scanned it prior and after the test and got no codes for lambda sensor the car was due a service ive since done plugs filters fluids so my final point is do i bother pulling the sensor and replacing it please tell me no ive got one hear but its a b**** to get to will welding the exhaust and all the service pass the test ?
