Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Asked on August 12, 2021
Question 1:
For the last 20 years or so, does Ford have a separate interior color palette for each model? For example, might the gray from one model match the gray from a completely separate model, or does each and every model have a completely separate color palette? (I realize that certain series like for example the F series, etc probably uses the same palette options.) I remain hopeful there may be some overlap with some colors applying to several models.
Question 2:
Does any organization maintain an exhaustive list of Ford interior color codes that might be helpful in understanding question 1?
Background:
I am thinking about refurbishing interior trim parts for sale in popular eCommerce websites. I would like to maintain a few colors of material that cover as large a number of vehicles as possible that are on the road in the USA and are roughly 8 to 20 years old. So I thought I would start with Ford (just because I have access to several Ford trim parts to tinker with). My question pertains to refurbishing Vinyl parts and also ‘wrapping’ other parts in vinyl (or similar materials) also. To state the obvious, a key challenge with making sales for used interior trim parts is waiting for the customer that needs that exact color; it seems to me that offering a pallet of colors would improve sales rate for a part. I cannot maintain a bazilion colors of material, that would be impractical for me. I am trying to find out what the most popular colors might be that work for several models.
