Help with intermittent cut out problem

Civic coupe vti 1999.

Car sometimes cuts out straight after start sometimes during driving.

Sometimes the car is driving without cutting out and I noticed it is harder to change gears but straight after adding fuel Gears change smoothly but it starts cutting out again.

Don’t know if this helps bug the dash fuel gauge isn’t accurate often showing less than is present. However this was like this before the cutting out started and it used to run fine back then. Then again it could have got worse and be part of the problem.

Any idea where the problem might lie?
