2010 Kia Forte 2.0L rear lights acting strange

Crazy situation. If I start the car with the remote starter I only have the rear park /driving lights on and nothing on the passenger side. Turn brake and reverse work. If I start the car with the key only the right rear lights work and left side is out. This proves the bulbs are all good. If I turn the headlight switch on the rear lights (park) work properly???? Has anyone seen this before ? Headlight switch or remote starter?
