Stiff shower controls on recessed mixer

The temperate control is very stiff. How do I go about repairing this?
Do I need to remove the whole unit?
I can only find 1 Allen key hole where my finger is located.

You should download instructions for this particular shower valve to get servicing procedures specific to this valve.
Comment from a discussion on a Moen valve which has gotten hard to turn, "If you take it [the cartridge] out, do NOT do anything to it and then reinstall it. Call 1-800-BUY-MOEN and they will send you a new cartridge. Getting the old one out can sometimes be a challenge even for a plumber with all the right tools."
Why not call 1-800-BUY-MOEN before you even start trying to fix the valve?
