Geographic Information Systems Asked on April 4, 2021
I’m running ArcGIS Desktop 10.5.1 on Windows 10. I tried using the "Table Compare" tool to compare the attribute table of an old version of a shapefile with a the attribute table of a newer version of the same shapefile. The newer version contains some added entries (old 1898 rows / new 2088 rows), this is the only difference I can tell when I manually compare the tables.
When checking the output file I got something like this:
Has_error, Identifier, Message, Base_value, Test_value, ObjectID
"true", "Table", "Table row counts are different", "1898", "2088", -1
"true", "Table", "Table row counts are different", "1898", "2088", -1
"true", "FeatureClass", "ObjectID 0 is different for Field Shape", "Geometry", "Geometry", 0
"true", "FeatureClass", "ObjectID 1 is different for Field Shape", "Geometry", "Geometry", 1
"true", "FeatureClass", "ObjectID 2 is different for Field Shape", "Geometry", "Geometry", 2
"true", "FeatureClass", "ObjectID 3 is different for Field Shape", "Geometry", "Geometry", 3
.
.
.
"true", "FeatureClass", "ObjectID 1897 is different for Field Shape", "Geometry", "Geometry", 1897
"false", "Table", "Tables have same number of fields", " ", " ", -1
"false", "GeometryDef", "GeometryDefs are the same", " ", " ", -1
"false", "Field", "Field properties are the same", " ", " ", -1
The first two (three) lines make sense to me, even if I cannot understand why this is listed twice. The following 1898 lines regarding the field "Shape", however, make no sense to me.
EDIT: When I check the attribute tables of the two shapes in ArcMap, all the entries in the field "Shape" are "Polyline", not "Geometry".
