Functions disappear with layout view on map QGIS 3.16

I’m using QGIS 3.16 LTR and MacOS Big Sur.

When i’m opening a new print layout it is opening in a new tab and the original map is disappearing (turning black). I always need to close the print layout in order to change something in my layers.
Also some default shortcutes are not working in the print layout tab. It is not recognizing ESC for example.
Can anyone help me with that issue? I think it has something to do with the mac update but i can’t find anything online. This issue started yesterday. Before everything worked fine.

I tried also an old version of QGIS 3.14 Pi but there I have the same problem.
