Display a .KAP file and associate coordinates to it

I am not an image format type expert and I am working on a project that needs to display a map and associate it to GPS coordinates. The map files are downloaded from a website that gives me two zipped folder for each map. The first one contains a .KAP and a .BSB file. The second one contains a .tif and a .db file.

What should I do in order to display the map and associate a GPS position to it?
