Complex Categorical Filter on Carto.js

The project I am working on currently contains 10+ boolean features and I would like to create an interactive checkbox SQL filter where only the features checked are applied as AND filters. For example on the dashboard,

[✓] buildings built in 1901 and 1930
[✓] residential use buildings
[ ] buildings with more than 3 units

Would yield a filter for buildings built in 1901 and 1930 AND residential use buildings (but not buildings with more than 3 units). Currently my code yields both filters even with one checkbox marked.
