Calculating quartiles of raster data within polygons using v.rast.stats

I’m trying to calculate the first and third quartiles of raster data within multiple polygons. The data spans the US and Canada, and there are over 2000 polygons. I’ve been using QGIS 3.14.0, but I also have access to ArcGIS if necessary.

My initial go to is using the QGIS GRASS tool v.rast.stats since it has the quartile option (unlike Zonal Statistics), but the program stops responding after I press run. I don’t know if my inputs are wrong or if the tool is broken. The version of GRASS I’m using is 7.8.3. I’ve done a test run with much smaller data, but the same thing happened.

If the tool is broken, then what other tools or methods could help with this calculation? I’m not that familiar with coding, but I’m willing to try use R or Python.
