What's the Origin of the phrase "build bridges?"

For the past several days, I am coming across with "build bridges" phrase.

I am keen to know about the origin of this phrase. I’ve done a lot of research on the internet but couldn’t find it. Theidioms.com – that provide idioms’ origins also denied having any clue of its origin. And Phrases.org.uk have no post at all related to this phrase.
