English Language & Usage Asked by logical human on March 1, 2021
I neglected my English pronunciation and grammar all in one instance it dawned on me. Unwittingly, born in America, and still not liberated from the fetters of misuse and indoctrination in words and there meanings. Moreover, at 65 years old it feels very wittingly prideful to have falsely have viewed the outside countries, and its English literary and understanding of skills that taken for granted it feels very critical of others. Take the word Corps, it was my thoughts that it was an abbreviation of Corporations, but in most instances when you pronounce it used as Army corps, Marine corps, human corps knowledge, it is pronounced as "core" moreover the definition of a body. Boy, talk about being stupefied.
Thank you the body or corps here at stack exchange and there being exact in the study of this peculiar language. I am humbled and grateful.
