English Language & Usage Asked by Eric R. on January 9, 2021
I am given the following sentence:
"I’ve always known you were a good friend."
I know that "I" is the subject pronoun "’ve" is the contracted form of the auxiliary verb "have", "always" is an adverb of frequency, and "known" is the past participle.
Can someone tell me what parts of speech the rest of the words are? I am having a lot of trouble with this. Also, is "you were a good friend" a defining clause? Thanks in advance.
