"open to correction" Or "open with correction"

English Language & Usage Asked by Rho on September 21, 2020

There’s some English competition in my school and i wanted to participate in it. The competition is simple you just need to write an essay in English, that’s all. but then this word came out of nowhere. there’s also allot of mistakes regarding a usage of this phrase. can someone explain to me which one is correct? Thank you

One Answer

It is 'open to correction'. This phrase can be used in many other contexts (e.g. I'm open to ideas, I'm open to suggestions etc.). I haven't really ever heard the phrase 'I'm open with...' used before.
