More general phrase for "putting name to a face"

English Language & Usage Asked on June 25, 2021

The situation is you read a book by a famous person. Then later, you meet people from the company founded by the author of the book you read. Here it would not be appropriate to use "Putting a name to a face" since you are not actually meeting the guy who wrote the book.

Best I could come up with was: "Meeting the people behind the company." but it sounds very prosaic, was wondering if there is a more witty phrase or maybe an idiom of sorts for this situation.
