English Language & Usage Asked by idoitforthesalt on May 3, 2021
I’m sure some of us have heard of the Internet meme "me and who?" Strictly speaking, if no fun were allowed, shouldn’t it be "me and whom" instead?
I’m a little confused though, because what would the subject, in this case, be?
...It’s me. (Adele)
If your girlfriend calls you and says “hello, it’s I” you’ll think she is drunk or up to something. “Me” is idiomatic in some phrases. “Me and who” is a tongue-in-cheek title, not even a real sentence. There is simply not enough meat here to chew on.
