Is "ending" in "The rain will continue through the week, ending Friday" just use of a participle?

English Language & Usage Asked on December 27, 2020

In the sentence, "The rain will continue through the week, ending Friday", is "ending" acting as a future continuous participle? If so is "will be" implied ("will be ending"). Similarly, in the sentence, "Beginning next week, the weather will be warmer", what is the correct classification for "beginning" or something else?
