How to write a period of time in formal writing?

I’m working on my thesis and i want to ask whether these formats of dates are correct:

1_ IT lasts from the 8th to the 15th of December, 2019.

2_ From January 26th to Fabruary 2nd, 2020

I also want to know whether i can use the verb "lasts" ( present simple) when talking about these periods which were in the past?
