We streamlined our leisure hours for higher production, lived by the
clock even when time did not matter, standardized and mechanized our
homes, and sped the machinery of living so that we could go to the most
places and do the most things.
In this sentence, should I consider two verbs separately, one with a modal verb and the other one on its own, like ‘could go to the most places’ and ‘do the most things’, or should the modal verb be applied to both verbs?
