"Ron dedicated his whole life to educating underprivileged children."
And
"Ron dedicated his whole life to educate underprivileged children."
In the first sentence, "to" is used as a preposition, which is why it is followed by a gerund. Does the second sentence (infinitive of purpose) make sense too? And if so, how different is the meaning?
