Another way to say "The new standard"

English Language & Usage Asked by commanderZiltoid on November 14, 2020

What would be another way to say something is “The new standard”? For example “We used to use blank1 but now we use blank2 which has become [phrase here in place of the new standard]”

Definition of new standard of which I refer is:”first in importance, order, or position; leading.”

One Answer

If I've understood right, you're looking for a synonym which is just one word.

  1. ... which is now preferred.

  2. ... which has become standard.

The reason "standard" works is that "become" implies that it's the new standard.
