Once there was a question on StackExchange about the reason for using Past Perfect with the verb "ask" in the pattern: I wanted to order something on the Internet. Once there was a question on StackExchange about the reason for using Past Perfect with the verb "ask" in the pattern:

I wanted to order something on the Internet. I had asked for a new password when I realised that I had lost it. But I haven’t got it yet.

Still it has been left unanswered.

Could someone explain it?
