In what cases we use both LRFD and ASD approaches in structural analysis?

In what types of situations we use both LRFD and ASD for the same structure? I of course do not mean a single analysis using both at the same time by mixing them. I mean, two separate analysis, for the same structure, one with LRFD and one with ASD. What types of situations require this, if any?
