Is artificial selection a mechanism of evolution?

Biology Asked by Hayden Soares on April 10, 2021

From whatever I read have seen that the mechanisms of evolution are

  • natural selection
  • mutation
  • genetic drift, and
  • gene flow

But artificial selection is often taught like a separate subtopic, but why isn’t artificial selection also considered a mechanism of evolution?
Doesn’t it work the same as natural selection, it’s just the cause that is different?
