Ubuntu functioning as display adapter

Ask Ubuntu Asked by Richard Boekamp on January 22, 2021

I am the happy owner of a Yamaha PSR SX900 keyboard. This keyboard has an USB-to-Host connection with a double function. It can be used to exchange Midi data, files etc. in a studio setting. The second function in a live setting is to show lyrics, chords etc on a HDMI screen. To be able to do so one need to buy a USB-to-HDMI adapter like for example the DeLOCK Adapter HDMI or a i-Tec USB2HDTrio. With this adapter you can connect the keyboard directly to a HDMI monitor.

Now I am wondering if I can connect the keyboard directly to an Ubuntu PC and view the lyrics on my normal Ubuntu monitor. Not only would this spare me the cost of an adapter but also the cost of an extra monitor.

Does anyone have a clue whether this is possible?

Thanks in advance

Richard
