Why can't my friend (PS4) See me online Minecraft

Me (mcpe) and my friend (ps4) have a world together but a while ago he couldn’t see me online we are still listed as friends on each others lists but whenever I am online he appears offline and I appear offline to him. I did not change any settings of the world and I can see others online just not him he does have PS plus as he plays overwatch often. Can anyone help me? Please and thank you
