Minecraft client side authentication server issue

Arqade Asked by Jacob Bischoff on May 10, 2021

Every time I try to connect to a Minecraft server I get the error:

Failed to login: the authentication servers are currently down for maintenance

I’ve checked, and the some of my friends are still able to disconnect and reconnect without any problems so it isn’t a problem with the authentication server, it is definitely a client side issue.

This question seams the most similar to my problem, but it is for a Linux machine and I’m on Windows. I did run java -showversion which output java version "1.8.0_127" which according the the comment would indicate something is wrong with how java is configured, but I can’t use the same install command to get it configured correctly since I’m on Windows. I did uninstall Java and I can’t run the java -showversion command, but Minecraft still runs without an issue besides the error still happening.

Other things I’ve tried.

Minecraft Help

  • Check network connection
  • Turned off firewalls
  • Restart computer, modem and router
  • Logging out and back into the account

Is there a list of error codes for Minecraft?

  • Don’t have server side access to try these, but others players are still able to connect to the server.

General

  • Uninstalled Minecraft and reinstalled it.
  • Deleted everything in the %APPDATA%/.minecraft folder (after uninstalling and before reinstalling).
