My girlfriend and I have had an argument over this and I was wondering is there any aspects of Kingdom hearts that is directly copied from Final fantasy as I am sure chocobos are used in both, the way in which the cutscenes activate are similar and the ways in which the enemies disappear is the same. I also seem to recognize some characters and character names, (Riku being one of them although the characters differ in gender between the two games.)
Here is a brief description of the game you are a male character called Sora and you eventually have comrades out of different Disney movies such as Donald Duck, Goofy and Tarzan. The enemies are called the heartless and your character wields a key as a weapon.
My main Question again, are my observations of the similarities just and is there any other similarities between kingdom Hearts and the final fantasy series?
Well Kingdom hearts is produced by Square Enix who are the guys behind the Final Fantasy Series. And most of the things you will find there are not really easter-eggs but rather the point of the game.
It is officially a crossover of Disney, Final Fantasy and The World Ends with You. Of course it still has an own story and characters but often you will find characters from different universes.

It's believed that the Final Fantasy characters in Kingdom Hearts are from a parallel universe. However, Kingdom Hearts is a separate franchise and the FF characters are really just cameos. The Final Fantasy characters actually don't impact the story for Kingdom Hearts that much. Kingdom Hearts focuses more on Sora and his friends than Cloud and all the other FF characters that appear in it. They did put in small similarities to some of those characters. Here are some examples of what I'm talking about:
And those are pretty much the major ones. I know Rikku (not be confused with Sora's friend of the same name but different spelling) also appears in KH but I don't exactly know her purpose and Auron also appears in KH2 and disappears the same way he does in FFX. So the true answer to your question is: No, Kingdom Hearts actually isn't linked to Final Fantasy. And to further that a little more, there are no major references to Kingdom Hearts in Final Fantasy (with the exception of XV which makes a small reference to KH3 and the fact the 1.5 cover art was literally from a scrapped concept of Noctis from when XV was known as Versus XIII). Finally, even though Square Enix made Kingdom Hearts the rights to the game actually belong to Disney and the reason why is obvious. The Disney characters.

In kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 the final fantasy characters do actually add a bit to the plot(especially 2). But in later games the Disney and Final Fantasy characters are adding less and less to the story. To answer your question, yes they are linked. Sora does appear in brave exius and in world of ff. He may even appear in dissidia. Cloud, Leon and many more FF characters appear in kingdom hearts obviously, and there are also many gameplay elements from FF included in kingdom hearts such as the name of the items, and the Kupo store. Technically Disney OWNS Sora, but they don’t do anything without tetsuya’s permission.

The way I see it, Kingdom Hearts is a spin-off of Final Fantasy. The main FF series is only now affecting possibly because of the Fabula Nova Crystallis. It is also an alternative timeline to the events of both Final Fantasy and Disney if you ask me.

Kingdom hearts takes many elements from Final fantasy beyond character cameos such as the synthesis Save the king save the queen ultima weapon. And its magic system with commands like Cure to cura to curaga are there. The series has its own version of Bigs and Wedge Final Fantasy staples and . Another thing to note is just because it's not in the same timeline or reality to say FF IX or VII deosnt keep it from being a Spinoff and within recent times elements of the Fabula nova Crytalis have started to carry over into the Kingdom Hearts series
