Is it possible to turn on build symmetry in survival mode?

Playing the current version (as of 5/5/21) of Empyrion Galactic Survival in survival mode and I got to tinkering with the aesthetics of the damaged hoverbike that you can repair near where your pod lands. After wrestling with various blocks and the orientation keys, I got to the point where I found myself REALLY craving symmetry, but I can’t figure out how to turn it on.

I tried the ‘N’ key menu, which has radio buttons for symmetry, but I couldn’t figure out which directions the XY, XZ, and YZ axes would be in, so wound up not using it. How can I get them to display, and do they even work in survival?
