Is it possible to rob a vault without the shopkeeper going hostile?

In Spelunky HD, so long as you didn’t damage the shopkeeper or the vault walls, you could rob a vault without angering the shopkeepers.. One way of doing this was to teleport in and out of the shop. In Spelunky 2 I’ve tried teleporting in and out of a shop, while underground, and it still angered the shopkeepeer. So unless this is a bug, it would appear that teleporting is no longer a way to safely rob a vault.

Is robbing vaults without triggering the shopkeeper impossible in Spelunky 2, or is there another method to rob a vault without angering the shopkeepers?
